We loved sharing stories, music, and crafts with so many little friends in December! We are pleased to share that we have been generously offered a new, free location. Storytelling time will begin again on January 14th.

Little Libraries

We are pleased to announce that while we work on a brick and mortar site for the library, we have built five little libraries that will be located in various spots around the city of Alpine. We are grateful to the generous donations and volunteers that made this endeavor possible. 

Library in the Park

We loved sharing stories with so many cute readers during the summer Trucks and Tunes and Alpine Days at our friends of Alpine library booth!

Lending Library

We've begun the exciting work of inventory and labeling all of our donated books so we can start sharing them with the community in a lending library. 
Our online catalog should be posted soon, and books can be borrowed from our lending library during story time beginning on January 14th.

In coordination with the Arts Council, we presented a site proposal to city council for a beautiful historic square - a community space with a statue garden and historic home to become the children's library. The proposal fits well with the city plans to renovate the fire station and create a senior center near City Hall. 

​Please join us in letting our mayor and city council members know of your interest in a children's library here in Alpine, and ask for their support to move this initiative forward as plans for the historic square are put into action. Below is a link where you will find their contact emails.

We feel strongly about the importance of having a library in our community. We understand that in the past others have also felt this importance and are eager to learn from their experiences. In order to create a sustainable children's library that will meet the needs of our community and city budget, we are planning to use a volunteer model. By working together we can create something special.

Program Ideas for the Future

We envision a space that promotes lifelong learning and encourages a strong sense of community. In addition to providing traditional library services, we also propose to incorporate community based programs that would foster a greater sense of belonging and unity among all of the residents of Alpine.
